Audit review
We could not retrieve or search the uploaded PDF via the file_search tool, so a point-by-point comparison against the paper’s text is not possible. Independently auditing the candidate (model) solution shows a largely sound strategy (small-angle convexity, quadratic–XY equivalence, constrained sectors, and Mosco convergence), but it contains at least one substantive gap: it identifies, at each finite level n, the quadratic-energy minimizer within a fixed degree sector with the restriction of the continuum harmonic lift u*, which is not justified and is generally false without an argument that the discrete constrained minimizer equals that restriction. There is also a minor omission of a (2π)^2 factor in the displayed Hessian formula. Because we cannot verify the paper’s proof and the model’s proof has a nontrivial gap, we judge both as incomplete.
Referee report (LaTeX)
\textbf{Recommendation:} major revisions \textbf{Journal Tier:} specialist/solid \textbf{Justification:} The candidate solution follows a standard and promising path (small-angle convexity, quadratic–XY equivalence, constrained sectors, convergence on SG). However, it claims an identification between the discrete quadratic minimizer and the restriction of the continuum harmonic lift at each finite level n without proof, which is the main gap. Minor technical slips (e.g., a missing factor in the Hessian display) should be corrected. With these revisions, the argument would likely be publishable within its subfield.
